Flooding is inevitable. But flood disasters are optional. That's why the San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group recommends more floodplain preservation. The proposed Scarborough development illustrates why.

Signed it a long time ago. I hope everyone will.

There is Lots of wildlife in that area because development of other projects ran them out of their original habitat. There are several types of Owls, Eagles, Hawks, Herons (including blue) and in migration periods there are some of the coolest ducks I ever saw there. There are deer, nutria, feral hogs, raccoons. A friend said he has seen bobcats. And there are lots and lots of snakes and good sized turtles.
It reminds me of when the parks along Cypress Creek were not there. Thankfully, the commissioners were able to set aside nice parks like Meyer Park and the Arboretum.
Thank you for reminding us to be vigilant.
