I am fighting back.... My light bill is crowding 500 mark ...I have 3500+ square feet...2 large trane ac units and a 26000 btu large garage window unit. Will now keep upstairs at 79. Got this unit for the one room. I can keep it at 62 no problem. That's perky nipples cool! Thing works great. Cost to run less than a freezer. Very efficient.

I would love to have a bill of only $418. That was a long time ago for me.
Does this have to vent to the outside?? Or can you just put it in a corner? How much did this unit cost? (If you don't mind me asking)
TIA!

#msg6021834Ray : A few questions please: Does this have to vent to the outside?? Or can you just put it in a corner? How much did this unit cost? (If you don't mind me asking) TIA!
#msg6021844lizzycav : I checked these out for the farm house and the ones I looked at had to have a place to vent and it takes moisture from the air and that has to drain somewhere. They create heat and you wouldn't want that going into the cool space. They may have come up with something that does not need this.
#msg6021839Ray : I don't blame you! I would consider a window unit. They are so cheap to run! Of course, our HOA does not allow window units so, I would have to hide it behind a pretty piece of wrought iron if I wanted one in a front window.

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to find a cheaper solution to a home I own in East Tx (built during the depression so it has window AC/Heat units).
#msg6021820Ray : So when does it arrive? My thermostat is upstairs too and keep it at 78. House is only 2200 sq feet but, pool pump has to run 8-10 hours per day and that runs up the bill. My last 2 bills were $418.

#msg6021856TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Nothing sticks out the window, but the window does have to be open by about 8 inches or so.

Its up and running. Nothing sticks out so the hoa snitch***** cant whine. Unit weighs around 80 lbs. As quiet as a refrigerator running so negligible. So instead of cooling the entire upstairs with the big trane unit...i will leave it at 79 or 80 and when Kathleen goes to sleep she can put it at 65. Downstairs stays on 72 and same in garage
