We're famous! ***This is from EARLIER today*** A few of the chasers I follow were specifically talking about Kingwood today! ✳️ We had confirmed winds of at least 72mph in Kingwood today in Trailwood. ✳️ My weather station hit 58mph before the power went out, but a friend 1 street over (who has a generator & the same weather station I do) got a top gust of 72 mph at 1:18pm. ✳️ Multiple 40-65 mph gusts from 1:15-ish until 2pm. ⬇️ 73.8mph winds right as they were coming into Kingwood from Texas Storm Chasers: 💨 60mph winds going into downtown: 💨 Confirmed wind recordings:

StormChaser : I just know it was kinda scary out there!

I went out storm chasing today. After seeing the weather balloon was showing over 6000J/kg CAPE I had to go get some data for someone that's working on a device for detecting hail high in the clouds.

We knew the winds were crazy bad but didn't realize they were insanely bad.

DFW airport winds hit over 100MPH today. Huge power outages up there in the Dallas area. I'm heading up there tomorrow morning for work, this should be fun (not). The building I work in is fully certified to stand up to a F5 tornado and is independently supported by it's own generator, etc. However the entire area around it, including the hotel they put me in, has no power at all still as I write this at 9:20 PM.

Ticagro : Oh yeah Dallas basically got what we did 10 days ago. (Not quite as bad)

@dpittard : There was an area of circulation that came over Kingwood at the height of the storms. No tornado warning was issued, which I was surprised about.

Had those storms not lost some of their steam between us and Dallas, we would have had a lot more issues than we already did.
