Essential Houston restaurants

You guys keep forgetting Taco Bell.

That is a tough one since I dno't eat out much but did love going to the old Cilantro's on Kingwood Drive for Lunch on Wednesday's but also loved Taco Cabana before they sold out, and in San Antonio when I was a teenager there was nothing like getting hammered and going to the drive thru or even better go inside since you can have all the fixing's You Like.

Annie : When you get to be "senior", Pappas restaurants allow you to order from the lunch menu any day, any time.

I always wondered how their food is since they have been around for a while. I will say I do not like that whole intersection but I am going to try them in 2026.

bigla : Oh, NOW you did it! They're gonna come for you and revoke your Houstonian citizenship. If you live in Houston, you must love Tex-Mex (and Buc-ees too!).

Don't forget VBistro off 1960 by the Pappas BBQ

Annie : You're confusing "The San Jacinto Inn", which was an all you can eat piece of Houston history (closed in 1987), with the Monument Inn. Two very different restaurants.

Butterbean : Nope. No sir. My boycott of Taco Bell continues until they bring back the Beef Meximelt.
