I've had 3 great experiences in the past month with 3, local, family-owned businesses. Should you need any of their services, please allow me to pass them along as personal recommendations: Al's A.S.A.P. Electrical Services in Porter: 936.933.7144. We needed a sub-panel and outdoor generator plug installed. This gentleman gave us a very reasonable quote, showed up on time, was very kind and professional, and finished when he said he would. He brought everything up to code and even did more than he had to at no extra charge. He also does Generac warranty service. Al and his wife run this business. F & V Contractors in Splendora: 832.340.3031. If you're looking for a sprinkler system, Erich and his folks designed a system for us that was not easy to design.... but they did a perfect job. They are knowledgeable, showed up on time every day, and the system covers every square inch that it's supposed to cover, and nothing that it's not. Two generations of this family run this business. Nate's Diner on 494 in Porter: Excellent food, excellent service, not far from home. I had a delicious chef's salad with chicken, DH had a hamburger steak dinner. I bet they have what you're craving, their menu is huge and varied. It's clean and brand new in town. Three generations of family work here.

QueenB : Passed by Nate's today, and sent the menu to a friend who meets me for breakfast once a month, as she heads home after visiting her daughter's family, in Cypress. Sent her the menu, and we are definitely meeting there, in October! Glad you all had a good meal, too.
