So we tried the half price fajitas (mixed) today. Excellent. The fajita meat was the best we have had - tasty and tender. Yellow rice, charro beans, dips and chips all very good. Will we become a frequent customer? Doubtful. Just because we can pay ridiculous prices doesn't mean we will. Occasionally perhaps. One negative surprise was the 10% packaging fee. Off the chart in my opinion.

@Kittle : Chaichi's also has a packaging fee. I know the Pho place in Humble by Pappa's BBQ does as well. I don't mind paying it for the convenience of quality packaging. Places are doing much more carry out these days so there probably is an extra cost incurred.

@LittleTexas : Not a Texas thing? Been to the upper Texas Coast lately? Crab nachos are definitely a thing here. DH and I are working on a container of marinated crab claws right now.

@teatime : Thanks for the info. Before Covid we dined in restaurants instead of pick up. We are starting to pick up but still mostly cook at home (cleaner/safer) so the packaging fee is new for us. I understand restaurants are struggling to stay alive as are many people. I am happy to have both El Tiempo and Italiano's in Kingwood.

sweetie : We were surprised as they did not mention it when we called in the order and it was based on the full price instead of the discounted price. We would have ordered even if we knew - I just don't like surprises, good or bad. As we had never been there, we started with a basic one pound mixed fajitas which was $29 and well worth the price as the quality is the best. For the record, I am not easily impressed but their food is really good.

@Kittle : We had the same experience. The fajita beef was AMAZING. I thought the food was very good. Loved their green sauce and both the green and yellow rice.

sweetie : Drive out for one pound mixed fajitas $29 which Includes 10% packaging fee. The fajitas come with rice, beans, sour cream, cheese, pico, chips, and dip. The regular price for one pound fajitas is $46.

@Kittle : Did you see the fajita meals that were over $100?

We stopped by El Tiempo last week for a late lunch. Service was good and yes it is pricey but the lump crab nachos were delightful.

@mamadog53 : Is this real crab meat or that fake crab meat ?

Kittle : Wow! That good?

@sweetie : For me, it was very good, but not the best Mexican food I've ever had. That would be Popo's in Phoenix. LOL However, the fajita meat was absolutely incredible. I don't know that I've ever had fajita meat that well-seasoned and tender before. I really liked their green sauce, the cheese enchilada had actual, real cheese. Both their green and yellow rice side dishes were SO GOOD. Wow. Actually, now that I think of it, a bowl of either rice topped with fajita beef and maybe some veggies would make a really good menu item.

@sweetie : A majority of the times restaurants that have take out/delivery charge a packaging fee or the to go items will be a little more than if you were to dine in. Helps businesses account for the cost of to go containers.

@Britsls : I don't do curbside but I do delivery maybe they do charge and I just never look at the receipt. I understand they need to get money from somewhere . I have no problem with it
