Ruger5 : Well, I must say that he is the most "republican" democratic mayor that I have experienced. I personally like him alot.

cbear : I heard about it on the news a few weeks ago, but didn't pay much attention to it. I'm glad it failed, I like Mayor Whitmire and I think he's doing a fine job.
cbear : cbear : LOL, I had no clue they were trying to recall Whitmire. He is the best mayor we have had in the 28 years I have lived here. As per the acritical: "It was his policies removing bike lanes and a deal settling a long-standing dispute with the city's firefighters that led to the formation of "Recall for Houston." I personally think it was a good thing to settle the dispute with firefighters. As for the bike lanes. What a PITA! It feels like they take space from the traffic lanes and put in a bike lane. That could not be safe for people riding their bikes.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Bike lanes in Houston really don't take up that much space, less space then the designated HOV/bus lane. If it's not being occupied most people pay no mind; however, it does create a safe lane for cyclist when needed.
