Just like people sneeze and throw their back out, or slip, trip and fall, fall down stairs, whatever, many ways to die or hurt yourselves making laws will not change it.

Yes, they should. You honestly think that adult drivers follow the laws? Yes you are over dramatizing with non common sense of reality.

I believe you are the one who needs the reality check. If you have not witnessed for your self the complete disregard a lot of these young kids have for traffic laws and or practicing riding safely then you've beeen lucky or not very observant.

reality is adults drivers who are permitted to drive having complete disregard for driving laws, I see more violations by them than the children. Its not luck it is just being observant and expecting the unexpected. The pet peeves by a certain age group does not counter the rights of all.

pickme2 : I agree! Which is exactly why we should not allow our littles, who literally have no concept of the dangers that surround them, to be placed in such daily danger. You can tech them all the road safety known to man……there will still be those lunatic drivers you and I so aptly speak of that we can not protect them from. Thankfully the adults in the room are waking up. Unfortunately waking up, in part, to little lives being snuffed out all too soon. Tragic, horrific, gut wrenching…….and PREVENTABLE

pickme2 : I agree there are a lot of adult drivers out who definitely need to review the Texas driver's handbook again. I'm just stating if we are going to sharing the road/s with these children on their scooters and ebikes, then they should be held to the same expectations as the rest, I.e. stopping at red lights, giving proper turn signals, and for their own safety
riding with helmets and only one rider on their bike or scooter.

oldarn pickme2 :
I can't believe people ride motorcycles without a helmet after all the bikers that go down. The law says if you ride without one you have to have insurance to cover the cost of your injury. I'm not sure people follow that.

mm4731 : I don't blame fire ants….i blame adults who can't say no to a clear and present danger. Littles on little speed cycles do not mix with sharing roadways with 4 ton chunks of steel with who knows what crazies sit behind the wheel.

pickme2 : I don't understand this argument. Are you saying that because you personally have seen reckless driving that all drivers henceforth are responsible for the behavior of children riding in the streets?
And these drivers are not "permitted" to drive. They are licensed to drive by the state of Texas.

oldarn : Of course they've witnessed it. They likely do it. There's no other reason they'd be on here arguing on behalf of it while everyone else argues against it. lmao

gmankw :
I hate that kids can't have more freedom today. I loved the freedom of minibikes , riding horses all over Pearland as a jr high kid.. and biked everywhere. I love seeing kids out and not inside on screens but that being said because of drivers I think it's risky for kids on these super fast e bikes and scooters.

pickme2 : are you saying parents won't t heed laws banning this clear and present danger that we speak of? They're already heeding the clear dangers of this wide spread phenomenon facing the country.

conversations like this one are making a definite difference. People are listening, and as more and more littles are hit and killed on them, we will adapt and pass needed legislation to put an end to this nuttiness.

My niece in Colorado just told me their state is having record accidents with kids on scooters and e bikes and they have bike lanes everywhere so I guess it is becoming increasingly worse.
