kingwooddiscgolf :
Brat : Yes, their FB post said equipment failure. I think that is closer to the truth.
Wow, the event company is getting roasted on practically every Kingwood-related FB page where they promoted and posted the apology letter. What a PR nightmare!

kingwooddiscgolf : they did test it about a day and half ago, it was on the FB page of the company that owns the drone show. everything went well. That is the problem with electronics; they do Not always play well with others. this was sad, though, as so many people made their plans around the event and were there, so kind of hard to rush and find another event. The Valley Ranch one was good, and you could actually see the fireworks well, from across the street, so hopefully they still got to see some.
Drone show cancelled. Someone just announced that they are canceling the drone show at town center. Something about magnetic interference.
willow10 : Yes ,I was there when they announced it,they said it was some magnetic interference and they could not risk the drones to malfunction... was disappointing as many people were looking forward to see it ..lots left after the announcement.

To our Kingwood community, We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to celebrate the Fourth of July with us. Seeing our community come together is what makes this event so special each year. Like many of you, we were incredibly excited to bring Kingwood its first-ever drone light show. Unfortunately, due to technical issues experienced by Gulf Coast Sky Spectra, the drone show could not be performed. Representatives from Gulf Coast Sky Spectra addressed the crowd during the event and explained that the cancellation was due to their equipment issues and was not the result of anything related to the event organizers or the venue. We appreciate the transparency and honesty from Gulf Coast Sky Spectra keeping safety the number one priority. We understand how disappointing this was for everyone who came specifically to see the show. We share that disappointment. We spent months planning this celebration and were looking forward to providing an unforgettable experience for our community. While the drone show could not take place, we hope everyone was still able to enjoy the live music, food vendors, shopping, family activities, and everything else the festival had to offer. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support of our events. Thank you to our vendors, sponsors, volunteers, performers, and everyone who helped make the day possible despite this unexpected setback. We remain committed to bringing free quality community events to Kingwood, and we look forward to creating many more great memories together. Thank you, JG-Events Tim, Krystal Wertman and family.
GreentreeMom : From the length of that letter and the speed at which it was put out, the company either knew there would be no drone show or they have done this many times before. I wonder if they have to give a refund or agree on another date to put it on. If they looked around the area they would have seen anything that would interfere. I have to wonder if they are a scam.
Here's a photo of the drones set up in the Remax parking lot. Such a disappointment that the show was canceled.
