Yes, the 11 year old died so he won't be thinking twice the next time. The teen ran and the person from the home chased him and shot him in the back. Gun laws allow a person to defend themself from those breaking in up to the moment the person breaking in or threatening turns and flees. After that point, the homeowner is no longer considered to be defending themself and their family, their castle etc but rather it becomes retribution or a vigilante action and they can be charged for using a firearm after the threat is removed.

Sisyphus : You are trivializing the seriousness of this issue. It's not just a "oh darn, those kids are at it again" situation. Many are seriously frightened when it happens, especially so late at night.
