ProblemAgain : So a group of wound up filled with sugar out of control kids. There was a birthday party. Party was over an hour ago. Why are these kids out running the streets?

More than one thing can be true at the same time....... It's not black and white...1. Child should not have been out late ding dong ditching.
2. Homeowner should not have chased after and shot child in the back.

Being a responsible gun owner requires the ability to discern when the use of lethal force is necessary. This man did not have that ability and he murdered a child.Lacking common sense and decency, he should have also fenced and locked his property fully and put notice around that no visitors were welcome and trespassing would be met with force.The child should not share any responsibility or burden for what occurred.

PatrickStar : This was not a 5-year old that just wandered onto the property. This was an 11-year old, intending to cause mischief at the very least. He knew it would cause surprise, shock and possibly fear given the time of night. He made a choice and that choice was the catalyst for the entire course of events. He did not deserve to die because of it, but he made a choice and took a calculated risk to do something he knew was wrong. He is not solely responsible but he does bear some responsibility, as do his parents, as does the homeowner that discharged his weapon.
