It's sad this happened. It probably isn't the first time and definitely won't be the last. Houston no longer has a curfew for juveniles. Maybe the leaders should reconsider that. Just MHO.

Donnawisdom : They are equally to blame. Calling this a childhood game in these times, in that neighborhood and at that hour is diminishing the 50% fault of the kid and his parents.
petronoluem : and this is the problem with our society… excuse after excuse after excuse for bad behavior. Entering the property, going up to the door and ringing the doorbell/knocking or whatever, CAUSED the homeowner the be alarmed, CAUSED him to reach for a weapon,CAUSED him fear, CAUSED him to feel the need, in the heat of the moment to defend himself and his property. There is no reasonable explanation that sides with the one that CAUSED it all to play out. It was not fun, it was not funny, it was not harmless, it was not a game.
donnatella : An adult tried to kill a 10 year old for knocking on his door. It is such a wildly disproportional response. The sentence for trespassing isn't the death penalty. While you might feel like it's 50/50, I'm grateful the legal system disagrees with you. You aren't even in the realm of reasonable.

A huffing and puffing LEO knocked on my door to ask if the dozens of toilet paper rolls in the mini-van and fleeing heels, he was too slow to see anything else were related. I abetted the scofflaws. Ding-Dong-Ditch Gone Wrong This story is all over the local news this morning. The reason I am posting is that I disagree with the side the media is taking. First of all, I completely hate that a 10-year was harmed and in critical condition, however in today's society, this "game" is seriously dangerous and in no way a harmless "neighborhood game" that it used to be or is being portrayed in the story. It's definitely not the same as TPing someone's yard, as most of us did when we were kids. I think there is plenty of blame for both sides, not just the homeowner who responded with gunfire. It was after 11:00 pm in a higher crime area. No one should answer the door with gunfire but also, no 10-year old should be out terrorizing neighborhoods at any time, especially that time of night. share.newsbreak.com/ esa76arx?s=i16

We must have very different definitions.
Just because of that word, I watched every station's report. The shooter should get charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, 1st degree.
