MissAmericanPie : They can still find a way to get out, even with all of the precautions. I know people who who will co-sleep with their autistic children. They keep their bedroom doors locked with an extra lock at the top of the door. Still, this becomes problematic when other children are inside of the home. There really are no guarantees when children begin to elope.

MissAmericanPie : Multiple reports could have made a difference especially when they are kicking doors as previously reported. That's takes the "innocent doorbell game" up a notch.

so agree; the kids had been to the shooter's home 3 times that day. I know that lady will have many sleepless nights over the guilt of not speaking to parents, etc, but She was not at fault.

the kids were part of a large family/friend birthday gathering; with everyone partying, the kids just walked away, and began these activities earlier in the day, and then continued doing this, as the night wore on. The other child has videos on his phone of the activity, as they were making videos to share online. by 11pm, the kids Should have been home, and in bed, at age 11; that is how I parented, and maybe not the way of everyone.

I suppose the worst part of all about this, it was totally avoidable. This man could have easily went inside and shut his door. The kids shouldn't have been out that late unsupervised and should have been in their beds, alive. Tragic and horrible loss of life.

MissAmericanPie : Indeed. A story broke almost simultaneously from Oklahoma, I believe, though one might say it lacks the usual flare of moral ambiguity. No firearms, no bloodshed, so naturally, the media's disinterest is palpable. Still, the facts are straightforward. There is no question of who the villain is and who the victim. Strangely, both stories, though as stark as night and day, broke around the same time. In this one, an 11-year-old girl suffers unspeakable horrors from family members. You'd think it would stir more than a fleeting glance from the masses. Yet, here we are.

What is the correct bedtime.

At home and off the streets, not necessarily in bed. "Playing the game" repeatedly to repost on social media, and doing it to this particular house repeatedly shows it was much more than opportunistic mischief and a one and done thing. I can't imagine any homeowner not being aggravated by it. HOWEVER, as the story has unfolded, he crossed the line on several fronts. He could have vented his frustration by sittings on this porch or in the yard, with the garden hose in hand, and soaked them all as they entered his property that last time. That would have been relatively harmless and justified. Again, plenty of blame to go around but the gun, sitting in wait, the chasing and firing outside of his property is what makes him deserving of his current charges, and the upgraded charges pending.

Someone should have been keeping an eye on the kids. In this day and age you can't just turn 10 and 11 year old kids loose in a neighborhood at that hour especially. Yes, the shooter crossed the line and should be prosecuted but sounds like plenty of blame to go around.
