cbear : E-bikes ARE allowed on the greenbelt as long as they are below 750W. I looked it up this morning to verify.

cbear : Yeah I found the lady that whacked my kid over the head with a stick right in front of me pretty disappointing too. We all rung our bells to let her know we were approaching, and she started walloping my kid over the head screaming "You're breaking the law, you can't be on the greenbelts with that!" She now has an assault charge, restraining order against her, and a solid understanding of the law.

I have a power meter on my bike (measures how much power my legs put out through the pedals). I can hold 750w for maybe 10 seconds. At my weight/height, 200W is enough to make me and my carbon road bike go in excess of 20 mph. Granted, e bikes are heavier, but still.... 750w is a lot.

JamminTX : It hasn't been explained, certainly not several times. Assuming it is privately owned, which seems to be the case as members are paying dues for the upkeep, the association can pass whatever restrictions they want. You can quote all the city rules you want, they don't matter. And of course HPD isn't going to do anything, it's not illegal.
petronoluem : Yes! The substation didn't say that the bikes were legal or illegal. They said the Greenbelts were private property, and they didn't have jurisdiction.
