DH threatened with physical harm by teenagers on Greenbelt. My husband wasn't feeling well today and went on a walk on the Greenbelt by Woodland Hills and Kingwood Middle School. There were two kids-- he thinks late middle school, early high school-- on a motorized scooter and a motorized bike. The first time they came by, he ignored them, but the second time they came by, he took a picture of them just cause he gets irritated by people not following the greenbelt rules. Long story short, the kids got super aggressive with him and told him that if he didn't delete it, they would beat the f out of him. They rode away and then came back to threaten to beat him up some more. It shook him up. I'm tempted to post the picture, but I decided not to for the moment. I just thought I'd post it because I think people should know about it.

The comment was "it is not motorized, it is a battery"! Ummmm.....that is still considered motorized! "Yes, a battery-powered vehicle (like an electric car, scooter, or e-bike) is considered a motorized vehicle because it uses an electric motor for propulsion, even though it lacks a traditional gas engine, but regulations vary greatly by device type and location, with smaller e-bikes often treated differently than cars. cbear : E-bikes ARE allowed on the greenbelt as long as they are below 750W.
AnnieOakley : I hope their mama sees this and has the sense to turn them in. She would be doing them a favor and I am sure it would be an eye opener for them. It would hopefully keep them from doing that again.
TEXASGIRLMAMMA : At the very least, mama needs to have a talk with them and take the bikes away. I understand that she probably feels that the kids are safer on the greenbelts than riding on the streets but. IMO...I do not think they are permitted.
JamminTX : My greatest fear is when I get rear ended when I slow down for a kid shooting out from the greenbelt crossing a street and scrolling their phone all at the same time ?
billcherie2 : I slow down too. It is clearly printed on the greenbelt paths when the meet the roads "STOP". It is ignored. Those "power bikers" that don't want to slow down as it is a work out...are the worst.

cbear : I am sure the mama wants them to be safe! But, she needs to know what they are doing because that is putting them in danger. They will eventually come into contact with someone who will put them in their place and it might be really bad for them. When someone pulls out a knife that is a threat. The other person might have a gun and that could mean the end of them. That would be sad!
