@Decorate365 : If the alarms are not monitored and just noise yes it will scare them away but then they just go to the next unit. When I worked we had an alarm system that was monitored. If there was an audible alarm the first person on the list was called in conjunction with the officers. I met the officers in the parking lot one time as we arrived at the same time. Fortunately ours were always false alarms for some reason.

Again, get the dogs, potty train them, feed them. Then you have a pal for life and a pretty good alarm stuff. Most crooks probably don't want to get bit in the crown jewels for some mardi gras beads behind display glass.

Police Response Times:
A little over two years ago a man drove his car into our mailbox and spun out into our yard. He was acting wildly erratic and appeared disturbed. We called 911 and it took 10 looong minutes for the police to show up. It isn't like in the movies.
FYI - Fortunately, for all, this incident was resolved peacefully.

Reivax : It takes minimum 15min to put down the coffee and donuts....

@elguapo : Police first need to be informed that a robbery is in progress or has been committed. The news report from KHOU stated that only 2 business had alarms that alerted the police. That's how the police learn of the robberies.
Out of 20 business, that's a small number of businesses.

How many businesses had alarms but had not paid the city of Houston alarm permit fee. If you don't pay the city bribe , I mean city permit fee then the police don't respond to alarm calls.

Sec. 11-55. - Police response to alarm notification.
Non-permitted alarm systems. The police chief may refuse to respond to an alarm notification from a burglar alarm system that according to department records does not have a current and valid alarm permit.

@FluffyCat : You are wrong on the perception that they (LEO) do not answer alarms that do not have a permit... what they do is fine you 500 for not having the permit and their response time is less than normal because of the added incentive to fine you.
