Creekwood parents stop parking on WLH

My kid has some of those types of safety features. I have no problem with him out and about on the greenbelts but crossing over main roads like he does to get to KHS....I don't trust drivers to care about my kid. Daylight gives me some piece of mind. He rides his bike on late arrival days. Other days, I block traffic. 😁 (Sarcastic)

I tell my kid not to trust the crazies. I tell him the drivers aren't paying attention...even when he has the right of way, don't trust the situation. Have you seen KW drivers???

He rides his bike in Daylight across KW and WLH. Yes... in the dark at 6:45am...no. Not because I don't trust him....I don't trust the adults driving vehicles and not paying attention.

KingwoodNana : Most kids would benefit from walking or biking to and from school. It would be great for them to socialize during that time too. Parents could build a network of homes that would be considered safe homes if the kids had any trouble before or after school. That's how it was when we were kids.

There's not enough bus drivers. And a lot of kids can walk or bike - mine did. Or wait it out. The teachers aren't going to leave the kids by themselves (not necessarily fair to them bc I can imagine it's a LONG day… I wish there was more carpooling, though.But yes, so many kids get the Mommy and Daddy Royal treatment.

LoveNC : Right. Like, how many kids have been hit by cars in Kingwood this year? People are in such a hurry nowadays. I hate seeing anyone crossing the big intersections.

JamminTX : No, I did not grow up in KW. I didn't get here till 1997.
When I was a kid we had the same Helping Hands signs where I lived in Corpus Christi, Texas. I think it was a good thing and parents need to implement something like this again.

Middle School doesn't start that early, unless he's had to be there for sports maybe. During the time it is dark, you could bring him with his bike and he could ride home. Traffic wouldn't be an issue then

They shouldn't have to cross with the Greenbelt.
