Those of us that have lived in Kingwood half a century+, don't understand why more kids don't walk or bike to and from school. It's almost like everyone that moved here in the past 25-30 years, thinks the greenbelts are unsafe, and have never acquainted themselves with them. I pity these kiddos when they go off to colllege, many have never been allowed to cross a street by themselves because their parents were too paranoid.
JamminTX : To be fair, they are pretty unsafe but parents just used to not care as much.
My DD went to Creekwood I never parked on WLH. That is dumb and so is blaming it on Millennials.
SummerSneeze : Why? I'm a millennial. Millennials are the parents of these kids. That's the generation of parents. It's not boomers. For all their faults, they at least had the forethought to get the hell out of the way.

SteveT : I got caught in the KHS backup yesterday. I knew Creekwood had pickup lines, but I guess I never use KWD outbound around school dismissal time. It's irritating for people trying to navigate through that mess. Both locations are an accident waiting to happen.
SteveT : I will admit that I am one of the people lined up on KW Drive. I am not "parked" there but in a line trying to make a right into the circle to pick up my kid. Sorry to take a lane, but I am picking up my kid after school. Not my fault some idiot put the high school on the main road. Everyone in KW knows the school hours.... the line is the same at every elementary, middle and high-school.... avoid the drop off and pick up times or be prepared for traffic and to use the left lane.
JamminTX : My kid does ride his bike some days but until recently, it's been dark in the mornings. I don't let him ride in the dark. Even when it's light out, I literally pray he makes it ok because Kingwood Drivers don't respect other cars much less a kid on a bike!! (People run red lights, sit in the crosswalk, speed, text, change the radio, etc....totally different from years ago) we moved to kingwood for the greenbelt and to be able to ride bikes to school...reality bites.
My reply is this happens all over the place with school parents tying up a whole traffic lane waiting on the kids. I think it should be stopped but I know it will not.
YancyJessie : Past 7th or 8th grade, is it really necessary? The kids are old enough to walk a little bit further than the curb in front of the school... or across the street where parents are waiting in front of stop signs blocking the exit/entrance of a residential area across the street from the school.

JamminTX : I agree with you.And what about those colleges that have those "cry-closets" set up for the student that can't handle grown up situations?
