I love volunteers and I know it's important that we all chip in - but this sure sounds like a service we already pay for.

FatCop : Yes it sure does and shouldn't some of our HOA dues pay for that or our maintenance dues. They want you to pay dues and they want you to pay HOA fees, but then they want you to do the work yourself.

Nope….. our HOA fees should go to cover this in addition to the monies the HOA pulls in from KSA for exclusive use of our "public" fields under a long term/non compete lease….

CBloch : It is great he is trying to get this done but I always thought the COH and the hoa's were supposed to maintained those areas. Why is that not being done already?

Toohot :
Before annexation the HOAs and Trail Associations were responsible for maintaining the medians. After annexation the City assumed that responsibility. If you look at medians in the COH, they look the same or worse than those in Kingwood. If you are satisfied living in a neighborhood that looks like most neighborhoods in the COH, don't volunteer to improve your neighborhood. If you want to live in a neighborhood that is above the average of other COH neighborhoods, volunteer or tell your HOA or Trail Association to increase your assessments have have them pay to have the work done. There are many neighborhoods in Houston that are well maintained, but the residents in those neighborhood pay for the extra effort necessary to achieve a better than average condition. Before annexation, Kingwood residents volunteered all the time, they even provided a volunteer fire and ambulance service. It seems their are always folks who can make excuses for not improving a situation they constantly complain about.

Yeah, it'd be very 'alpha' as my teens would say, if the headline read "Councilman Flickinger leans on the Public Works Dept and gets them to clear your roadways & ditches."
He could even use a cool phrase like Make The Medians Great Again.

CBloch : There was a time when the COH and the HOAs shared that responsibility. Is that no longer the case?

The COH is responsible for the central median. Trails associations for the side medians on KW drive. Central median mostly ignored by the City. Now residents get to do the city's job. Just saying
