I would say the real punishment would start once he cleaned his life up and had to live with the fact he killed his own mother but after reading the history of him, he probably one of those people that will never change and never have any remorse for things he's done. Always justified, always someone else's fault for their troubles.

He was in the judicial system by the time he was 17 and no telling what charges he had before he was considered a legal adult. He was an addict and habitual criminal that was not going to be rehabilitated. The suffering caused by him being out in society could and should have been prevented. I do not know what kind of relationship Carol had with her son, but had he been in prison where he belonged she would still be with us today. I still cannot imagine the anguish of knowing your own child is your murderer, Heartbreaking for all.

teatime : As heartbreaking as it is she would forgive him I believe. She was in a very hard position for any mother to be placed.

Brat :
I was just wondering about that. It must be awful to realize you killed your mother. I still think about the daughter and her kids. Such a tragedy.

Brat : I never knew her personally but have exchanged messages in the past. The justice system isn't the justice system anymore. He shouldn't have been released reading his track record. I don't know what actually happened but sounds like he was probably high on drugs and probably demanding $ and lost it.
I don't know how she died but I hope he pays for it and what he did. He probably won't make it out of prison and die beforehand. It's just heartbreaking to know that she knew her own son did this before dying. He looks creepy so they need to keep him locked up!
