asasolid2r : Yes and Framber should get as much as he can. I can understand Crane's thinking but I do question it. Framber is 1) very effective and 2) very durable. That combo is rare and if there ever was a pitcher to give out such a deal to, he'd look a lot like Framber. If it takes a 7 year deal, so be it. If he's really good for 5 of those years, and kinda bad for the last 2, so what? Altuve and most of this current core will have aged out anyway by then. 7-8 years of Framber is (probably) a way better deal than 5 years of whoever this "Lance McCullers" person is. That McCullers contract is another black mark on Crane's tenure, btw.

Hit_Bull_Win_Steak : why the quibbling over each contract hit or miss? It appears they are batting .250 on winning rings over the last 8 years. Who has done better? Give them a chance for one or two more before Altuve is done. Even if things look a little murky now they are still better positioned for this year, 26 and 27 than they were 24 hours ago.

asasolid2r : Dodgers have 2 in a shorter span than that but otherwise nobody has more rings.For whatever it's worth, I actually agree that there is a strong argument that they should push chips to the middle of the table, particularly for this year. I think after Framber leaves the pitching because pretty uncertain and that has been their bread and butter. Obviously we don't know what moves will be made but it might get real dark real quick.So yes, push the chips to the middle of the table. I just don't happen to think Correa is the guy you do it for. Ramon Urias--who they also got--has been the better player and is himself a former Gold Glove winner. Just ride with him!Plus, you let Correa go to avoid paying on a large free agent contract for the prime of his career but then reverse course 2.5 years later to pay most of the same free agent contract, only now you get the decline phase of his career? It's odd. And really, the roster is crunched next year unless they're going to jettison Walker or something since Correa or Paredes would seem to not have a position to play regularly. But that's a 2026 problem.

Sisyphus : The injury is the only thing you listed that is relevant to anything. McCullers has been on a major league roster for over 10 years now and has appeared in 141 games during that time. Good for him for getting paid but there is no argument whatsoever that he has been of any use to the Astros since 2022.
