Humble ISD starts Aug 13th
Much better than last year

I remember starting school in late August; maybe the 3rd week? Made sure our first day outfits were cool, but "cool" ( it was the 70's!). It was hot, and I always felt sorry for the football boys, who started Two a Days practice about the end of the first week in August. We girlfriends, friends, cheerleaders, etc, always went up to the stadium to offer up popsicles and cold treats.

rocklady2024 : If school districts would stop all of those unnecessary week long breaks, school could be as it should - start the day after Labor Day and end the Friday before Memorial day. It worked for decades.

I recall it seems they were not going to school for a whole week straight with the holidays, teacher days and 1/2 days. There is a period where someone was always off.
I feel for the working parents trying to schedule around all the times they're off.

I like the calendar. My job is busiest during summer so I am grateful that I can my kiddos on vacation during other times of the year.
My native country has school from Jan - Dec. They roughly have. 4 week break in winter and summer, and then a 2 week break in spring and fall. I would prefer to have that schedule.

To be selfish, I'm not looking forward the traffic on my way to work. When school goes back it's another 20mins in the morning.
