I am not sure where to go to get a building permit.  I live in Atascocita with Humble address.  I have looked at Harris  County website but it seems to be more for commerical permits like neighborhoods and bigger projects.  I hope it is as simple as going to City of Humble to get the permit.   Has anyone had to do this in my area of town? 4951

You don't live in the city of Humble.  Call the county and ask and then check with your HOA.  What are you trying to do?  Your contractor should know what to do. 4951

Call your HOA. If there is city property involved..right away, water line..they will be needed as well. Not sure what you are building, but if it involves property lines, check them first. Over the years the lines get blurred with people putting up stuff without permits. I had to have both pay my neighbor a visit. Didn't want to do it but he was trying to build something illegally without permits on my property and the city right away.        4951

Thanks everyone.   I went down to the Harris County Permit office and they said routine maintence did not require a permit.   Was just re-roofing my house. 4951

You are lucky, some city guy stopped the company re-roofing my home in Forest Cove. Shut them down until they got a permit. Another time he tried to shutdown re-decking, I have a wood deck on the front of my home. This time I told him he was wrong, it was an existing structure, just replacing boards. I use to see him patrolling weekly looking for way to stick people. Don't see him much anymore.     4951

Same thing happened to me. I guess the COH wants to squeeze every penny out of homeowners they can get. 4951

beastmode: When they nail down the last shingle then I will consider myself lucky.  Even though that is what they told me all it takes is one **** neighbor about the noise or something and 1 bad inspector to make your life a living hell.
