SorryInAdvance :
I suggest a whole house generator if it is in your budget. Ours was well worth the cost when we had an almost two week power outage in the middle of summer.

Kittle: I would love to! Just tough to justify the $24k to install it… especially if I may not be in this house but a few more years.

SorryInAdvance :
Well if only for a few years I would not pay for a whole house generator.

Donnawisdom: That's kinda my thought as well. Would love to have one, though.

#msg5930491NeverPayRetail: It wouldn't. A generac would fit the bill for that, but at a cost of about 24x that of the Base battery solution. That said, you can lay Base to have a plug installed for a generator It's not meant to be a perfect solution, just one that covers most power outage scenarios at an affordable price.

SorryInAdvance : It wouldn't likely last that long... though depending upon your needs you might be able to stretch a dual battery setup to cover lights/TV/internet, refrigerator/freezer, and a/c warmer than normal. At worst, it'll take time off how long you're without power.

#msg5930546buffaloglenn: That's good to hear about the pricing! Yeah, those batteries aren't small, but for me they'll go on the far side of the garage which I never see or use so it should be out of sight out of mind.

SorryInAdvance : It looks clean and professional. Even if you see it, it's not an eyesore.

#msg5930574How long of a shelf life for the batteries? I get frustrated with rechargeables limited life span.

Quixote : I don't know but do know that's Base's problem. So long as you're with them, they take care of maintenance and repair - including replacing faulty/spent batteries, at their expense. You're liable only for damage you cause, if any.

jwardl: I'm definitely not looking for a solution for a long-term outage and Base fits the bill perfectly for me and what I'm
looking for.
