The Barn Door~ San Antonio, Texas
When asked here on KDC I have recommended The Barn Door Steak House in SA. I am sad to report I was in SA over the last week and learned they shuttered their doors on Mother's Day of 2026. 73 glorious years in business. My parents went there while they were dating in the 50s and I have been going there my entire life. My favorite steak was called The Ladies Steak with a baked potato and salad. Just the right size! Their onion rings were so good and the rolls were heavenly! It is rumored a Mexican restaurant will be moving into that location.
I have also recommended Tomatillos. Years ago they were on Broadway. Then they moved to the NE side on I10. Now they are located on the southside on Military Dr. We did not go there this time so I don't know if they are still the same.
