Avoid Unwanted 9-1-1 Calls by Enabling Child Lock on Old Phones

From The Greater Harris County 911 Emergency Network:

Did you know that even inactive wireless phones can still dial 9-1-1? With the holiday season behind us, it's not uncommon for children to use their parent's old inactive wireless phones after their parents have gotten a new phone for the holidays. This can lead to more accidental 9-1-1 calls than you might think. To avoid these calls , we suggest you enable the child lock or restrict access to the emergency dial feature on the inactive wireless phones.

Taking these easy steps can prevent accidental 9-1-1 calls and ensure that 9-1-1 call talkers are available for those who need it most.
