Then why did my MIL sit outside in a line of ambulances for 45 minutes after a fall when it was just a precaution and she seemed fine. She could have gone to Elite or Memorial in the back just to get images. There was a meeting with the hospital staff and paramedics while I was there concerning patient dumping. The person for the paramedics straight up said you have been our favorite place to bring people and we would like that to continue. I see if the person is trauma but that wasn't the case
Was it a location with better available options? A crisis is developing due to hospitals closing. The emergency ambulance industry does have its share of chicanery. Kickbacks aren't unheard of.
Patients with good insurance are valuable to a provider.
Options are often available in the area, but even what doctors are on call may be a factor. I had a urology issue in February. Dr. Russell Libby used by HCA and Hermann was already at HCA. Hermann deferred to HCA. Medical dispatching is a board game at times.

There is never a wait at Elite and very little at Memorial Hermann in the back. I need to check with both on how to get an ambulance pick up ordered. I saw that Elite was hiring paramedics.
Uber? I see it or AI from home in the future. The days of the HMO nurse on the phone redux. I know I have a UTI. The Kelsey triage nurse was a challenge. I won with an OK, there's always driving to the ER. Sample for labs ordered, Sheesh?
I begged the ambulance driver to take me to Herman. They refused, said HCA was for trauma cases. I had a broken hip. Worst care ever!
