Auto theft at Fitness Project. My car was broken into yesterday morning at Fitness Project on Northpark, along with another vehicle at the same time. I just wanted to make it known that there are multiple cameras posted on the front of that building and none will be pulled to view the suspects. They were clearly watching me because I got a fraud text from my bank about 20 minutes after I entered the gym. HPD came and took a statement, gave me a small piece of paper with an incident number on it. No pictures were taken (except by me), I wasn't given a phone number or email to contact the officer if I had any questions. That was it. I called the HPD non emergency number this morning to get any updates and I was informed HPD is not pulling the cameras, as it is not their responsibility. Yet, the gym says it has to requested by HPD and then they will allow it to be viewed. No problem. So what exactly is HPD's job? Did I need to be kidnapped or murdered for them to pull cameras and see who these worthless people are that robbed 2 people? This is why crime continues to happen in Kingwood. Nothing is done. What is considered a "petty crime" to them? Doesn't need to be a dollar value? I bet they did over $5000 worth of damage to my car. HPD was absolutely useless. And we want to give them raises but not HFD? HFD has to respond and help everyone, regardless of the situation. It's their job. Whether it's not a big deal or it's is a building or house on fire, they respond and sacrifice themselves for us. HPD- if it's not important, it's pushed under the rug. I pray next time this happens, it's not a worse situation since the criminals are still running the streets and the people that are supposed to "serve and protect", don't. Keep your doors locked and be aware of your surroundings. I wasn't as aware as I should've been and now I'm devastated. Lesson learned. Good luck to all of us.

bcassidy : Sorry that happened. HPD needs a hardcore overhaul. I'm pretty sure that part of Northpark is in Montgomery County and if it is, you'd have way better luck with the sheriff's office. MCSO's non-emergency is 936-760-5871. Good luck.

Ugh that's awful. Yes, pretty sure they were watching me bc I parked towards the back. It was maybe 20 minutes after I walked in and before I got the fraud text, so they were quick. It's so scary that they just sit and watch you. Definitely will make me more aware.

bcassidy : I doubt they were watching you. They hardly ever do. What they do is walk around parked cars looking for anything visible on the seats or console. I am guessing you left something out if you got a fraud alert so be aware next time that leaving anything of value in plain site is an open invitation for vehicle theft. They get about 3-4 cars with stuff then go bust windows with a hammer usually. Trucks are a different story. They will target a truck just to get into the console with nothing valuable visible just on the hope to get lucky enough to get a handgun.

HPD has way bigger fish to fry than a vehicle theft in a parking lot. They get a little more engaged if it is residential and can actually work with personal camera footage. Honestly, the perps only want quick money and probably dumped whatever you had the card in somewhere. Usually by a gas station or garbage bin so you might get lucky if you had an ID in there with the card in case someone finds it, but then again, if you did, they now know where you live. So, moral of the story, NEVER leave anything of value in a parked car.

Yeah I usually never leave anything in my car. Unfortunately this time I noticed I brought my wallet so I put it in my middle console. Cop said it was probably targeted because it was a brand new vehicle. Idk. Either way it sucks.

bcassidy : If whoever has the camera can provide you with an image of the suspects, grizzy in grizzy hood news will post it. Most people get identified by someone in Houston. She loves doing Kingwood news. She is on Facebook

kingwooddiscgolf : They usually break the glass but that's typically only to grab plain site stuff. OP said item stolen was in the console so curious if the vehicle was locked. Typically if you lock a new car with a key fob and then open the door the alarm will go off which is another issue people have at gyms. They just leave their keys and even wallets sometimes in plain site on shelves or hooks by the entrance. WTF? Do people just want to give their stuff away?

That's what they said. Car was brand new. Window was expensive. Took a knife or key to the inside of my door leather, scratched the outside of my door and the side bumper.

TexasTideFan :
I had a blanket on the floor of the backseat and the windows were pretty dark, so I don't know what they were looking for.
The alarm may have gone off but I was inside and no one came in and said anything. That's why I was surprised that they hit 2 cars back to back and no one saw anything. That's crazy to me.
