Yikes! I'm glad this broke up before it got here.

Major damage across the city.

*The US National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio Texas has confirmed that a long-track microburst, stemming from a supercell, swept through central and eastern Austin.

*The damage path extended approximately 10 miles, from the Hyde Park area southeast to just east of Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA).

*The width of the damage ranged from one mile to a maximum of 2.5 miles on the east side of Austin.

*Widespread damage to numerous trees and power lines was observed along the path.
*Large tree branches were snapped, and some shallow-rooted trees were uprooted.

*Maximum sustained winds were estimated between 65 and 85 mph with a peak wind gust of 77 mph recorded at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

My DD lives Austin and it was horrific! The picture of the guys pushing/raking/shoveling the hail is no joke. That was about 2 streets over from her home in the same area. They had more hail pile up in that one storm than snow, ever! DD's house needs a new roof, gutters, window screens.... One small tree spilt in half, her gorgeous Magnolia tree lost almost every leaf. It was apocalypstic! And on top of all that, a tiny kitten was found in her backyard.

bigla : I heard there were severe storms there but it wasn't until I saw the pics late last night that I realized how bad it was!

That hail is insane! It looks like snow!

ForestFinds : Yup! They measured up to 3 FEET of hail and they even had "drifts" in areas. 😳😳😳

What rain we're seeing is from the storms south of us.

They are moving east and will continue to miss us.
