A.I. attack at Torchy's . The taco shop has gone to kiosk

I liked Torchy's when they first opened but then it just seemed like the amount of grease was too much and the quality of the meat went down so I haven't been there in a few years.

Taco Bell began the same practice, not long ago. NO counter service; you order ahead on latop, cell via the app, or when you come in the store, you Have to use a kiosk and two of the 3 machines were 'down' when I was there. I stood at the counter like a stubborn, 14 year old Pug, til they waited on me. ; ) No more Senior Discount, but if you Do get them to take your order at the counter, you get a free drink cup. Arf, Arf....

Smoothwaters : I picked up a gift card today and they hand me their tablet that has tips on it. I just signed it and gave it back to her. I'm not going to give a tip for a gift card. They've done nothing really but hand me a gift card.

I don't mind a kiosk. I won't tip on it, but I may give something to the food runners or bussers if they seem to be doing a good job.

I always sit at the bar when I go. The "day bartender" knows me and is really sweet. I get great service and don't have to stand at a counter to order. I just wish they would get real silverware.

I think more food establishments should move toward kiosks. In terms of personnel, the companies save money and they are able to speed through orders. These kiosks at Torchy's are AWESOME and they were placed to avoid the long lines. Tips? AT A KIOSK? Nope. Their JOB is to make food. How it gets to my table is their problem but it's not a full service food dive and the staff doesn't make their living on tips. But, here's a tip for you older folks (I'm one of them). Get with technology and learn the system. We're not in the check writing days anymore and "tap and go" technology is here to stay. The good ole days are gone. Get with the program and learn the digital world so we can have splinter of a chance against Skynet. I have more to say later so.....I'll be back.

Ill do a kiosk any day. Taco Bell or Torchys. Its actually easier and faster. Anyone who wants to wait in line while someone in front of you picks through a menu...nope. ill do the kiosk.And yes I have helped old people my age get it done.

I like reasonably long lines. It's a great chance to kibbitz, kvetch. I guess y'all would say chit chat.
Not too long a line, we're not having a block party. Besides, technology hates me.
My grandsons say so.
