This is cave art from prehistoric times. I guess it's graffiti, too!

Chrisinkingwood: Soooooo - would you be OK with someone placing their 'art' over the prehistoric drawing or on national monuments?  This one happened this year and the so called artist is not banned from all national parks because she made it a practice to deface monuments.  How sad that some people think their 'art' is better than natures beauty.

>> it pisses off conservatives.

EvanCarroll: How is this even remotely a political issue? So by your own statement, Conservatives dislike graffiti and Liberals love it? Good to know...Hillary Clinton Pro Vandal!!!

CantStandTex: Conservatives have a long history hating anything urban or street. Liberals are no better. I'm sure it'll **** off a bunch of them too. Good. It's public property. I paid for it too. If I'm sitting on the jury, that artist is walking. Bad *** tag.

Ok, I read the story that the OP linked to and it says that Zachary Price or Zed is 22 and charged with a State Jail Felony, the penalty listed elsewhere is 180 days to 2 years in a state jail and/or a fine of not more than $10,000.To bad, he could have put his artistic skills to work in a more productive and legal way. A felony stays with you for life.

Chrisinkingwood: There was a thread on here about this guy and it had a picture of a "professional" paint job he did which was pretty decent(I'm not saying it was amazing but he could get work doing it) but he also does all these low brow Zed tags all over Kingwood which are just terrible. Art is creating something expressive.......I don't think writing your name everywhere is an expression of art in any form. Just because you use an interesting font doesn't make it special. There is no more meaning then a restroom graffiti of "call X for a good time at xxx-xxxx" or "Bob was here", they are just destruction for the sake of destruction.

I like it. Kudos to them. Looks better than a boring wall and it pisses off conservatives.

Graffit is trash, as it usually is done in an attempt to vandalize property and essentially "trash" the place. They intestinal lay draw attention to themselves and leave their tagger name, and just plain don't care. Street art, is another story. While it mirrors graffiti, most street art is sanctioned by wherever they are working, and even if it's not, while still wrong, is designed to draw attention to the artwork itself. Street artist may or may not leave their names, but the main focus is the art itself and getting people to understand the underlying message behind it. I believe that is indeed art, although I'd rather it all be done legally.

bp2018: Midtown Houston has some beautiful street art on the old buildings and businesses. I'm thinking it's being done with permission from the owners because good street art takes days, if not weeks to complete - so surely someone would have noticed and stopped the artist if it was not wanted.

Graffiti is trashy, well except the Be Someone bridge. That is graffiti that's now considered a landmark, and vandalizing that piece of graffiti is now frowned upon...

Someone did vandalize it earlier this year and the graffiti artist was requested to restore the original Be Someone.  This particular graffiti is sanctioned, even though IMO it's trashy for the city. abc13.com/society/be -someone-artist-you- can-do-what-you-want -to-do/1360192/ 4951

 Bad *** tag.

EvanCarroll: What's bad *** about it? There is nothing new or original.  Looks like thousands of other tags.  There is real art out there, some of the things graffiti artists come up with is amazing creative work, where it belongs is the other argument, but this particular work of art is tired and ordinary.
Bad *** it is not. 4951

TexasOma: The second picture is pretty cool. Imposing current art of long lasting surfaces is how art survives. Paper doesn't last forever and most art isn't valued in it's time, putting it on a surface that will outlast civilizations seems like a good idea to me, most will be washed away, eroded or removed intentionally, but thousands of years from now, people will find the traces left behind as we do now. Not great works of art, but expressions of individuality or thought which peer into the mind of the artist instead of the culture...........you know like the cave paintings we find now.Nothing quite like finding a place you figure nobody has ever been and finding a message from a person long gone, even if it is something as stupid as "Beth was here 1978", we as a society are trained to believe that this is worthless garbage(as shown in my earlier post) but when it is aged a hundred years suddenly it has worth. The reality is that the worth never changed only the perception of it.Pretty sure I just argued for both sides of this argument so I can attest to the perception change. 4951

@ForeCPA90: Lol, you got a degree in tags? What makes you think there is nothing original about it?I like the style and the use of the white, black, and pink. Got a problem with that? Go to art school. This is unique, and we're all better off for it. Thanks Zedeon. You rock. Free art. <3 it.
