Has anyone recently been to get their driver's license renewed a

Do you wear glasses? They just gave me an eye chart the standard distance away and if you can't read that without glasses, then they give you the chart for glasses.

I think as long as you can read the letters with both eyes you are good to go.

SteveT: The paperwork I received said I needed to come in to the office to renew on renewal date because I am over 78 yrs . Are you also in this age category?I am so worried about this eye chart thing.

I recently had my license renewed. I don't remember an eye test.

I'm 75. I was in there for a license replacement after losing mine on a trip. The kind lady said why don't you just renewal it completely while you are here (I think I had 4 years until I had to renew). So that was great.
As far as the vision test I was a little concerned too because of my age. It was on a chart in her cubicle. I know I may have missed a few of the letters but she said I passed.
If you are real concerned I would make an appointment with the eye Dr before you renew. That way if you need a new glasses prescription you will have it before you go in for renewal.

I wasn't aware that there was a drivers license office in Atascocita. I believe when they do the eye test, they test both eyes at once, but you will also have to close one eye at a time to test both of them. I had that done a few years ago, and discovered that I needed glasses for driving. They passed me, but strongly suggested I get the glasses as soon as possible. I agree that it would be a better idea to get your eye test done and whatever you need from your eye doctor first, before renewing your license.

They will issue a drivers license to people who cannot read English. Don't think you have anything to worry about. FYI, made an appointment and renewed at the Liberty Tx DPS. Took wife and we had a nice lunch out of town. No crowds, friendly DPS employees.

Just use eye drops. I have dry eye in both eyes. You'll be fine.

The New Caney location is never busy, the people are helpful, and you can make an appointment online , too. Never have to wait.

In my opinion, the Humble(Atascocita) office is closer, but not that friendly. I have heard good things about the New Caney office and also Spring.
