#msg6024543TEXASGIRLMAMMA : Yeah. She is a momma bear type. If they need her she will never say no.

I will probably be that person who keeps working, but I like working. I would be bored at home. I will not be supporting adult children, though, just pets.

#msg6024397Does anyone else have a family member they feel bad for that have to work until an older age? One of my sisters is, and I feel bad for her. Her husband passed away 10 years ago, and she has 3 kids that don't go away. Her career job is gone and now she works 2 retail jobs. But I guess she is happy enough. I would not be.
Are any of the adult children special needs? I know mine live at home at 30 but both contribute. When I leave, the house is theirs but I planned that out for them and for it to paid for as part of their trust fund. I'm not getting the feeling this is the case with hers though.
If she is "happy enough" then why would you be bothered by it at all? If she isn't asking you to fund her and her adult children's lives then it's probably best to MYOB.

The only reason I haven't retired is because my wife won't let me.🫪

She complains about it. But I know she needs to vent.

Maybe she should move into a one bedroom or efficiency apartment.
No room for the kids, except to visit for a few hours.
The 'kids' are adults now and should be self-sufficient.
"What You Allow, is What Will Continue". I wonder if she feels that her kids will not 'love' her, or they will 'abandon' her, if she refuses them? Let her know she Deserves better than that. That is all you can do. There comes a time that you cannot listen to her complaints, If she does not try to change things; that will wear You out.

I am sure she feels like this keeps them around to keep her company and having them love her....you're right. I'm trying to understand this, but I don't feel like this is good for her or the kids. If they're this dependent on her, what are they going to do when she is gone?

That is what her son said to her. She said we helped you too. He has been on his own forever. She is making excuses for coddling them of course.
