Amadeus Restaurant Mother's Day disaster! Took my BW out Satur
Amadeus Restaurant…Mother's Day disaster! Took my BW out Saturday night to celebrate Mother's Day. Made the reservation a week ago. Upon arrival, even though there were two tables in the main restaurant, we were seated in the back bar area at a table with no silverware, glasses, etc. After 15 long minutes, we finally got silverware, water came later, a waiter came even later. The Lemon drop martini my wife ordered was bitter. Finally, we ordered the $20 fried oysters appetizer and our meals. The oysters were severely overcooked & dry! Almost inedible! 20 minutes later the main courses were delivered! My BW got what she ordered, but the waitress plopped down a clam dish for me that was NOT the redfish I ordered. 10 minutes later, my redfish arrived….. and it was mediocre, at best! Overall, the experience was very disappointing! I hesitate to post this review because I liked supporting local businesses. But, having spent $120, I expected better.

Greenwich : So sorry for your experience. It is so disappointing to go out for a special occasion and not have good service or food. This is why we do not go out for Valentine's or Mother's Day.
Greenwich: don't feel bad . The last time I was there , it was a disaster as well. And the owner was there and didn't even apologize , nor any discounts. We were a group of 6 people. I said to my husband : " Last time “. Oh, and it was not Mother’s Day , nor Velentine’s day, just a regular evening .

Greenwich : I think you mean Tony's son. He does have a young face. He's older than 20, is well accomplished in running the restaurant. I know he would have moved Heaven and Earth to address your issues and make them right, had he been given an opportunity.

I'm sorry your experience wasn't good. We were there last night. I admit, the place was packed and every table was full, but we never go there for a quick meal. It's leisurely dining for us. Seeing the crowd, we also knew the staff would be stretched. We also aren't "must be main dining room" people so sitting towards the back near the wine room and bar would not have been an insult for us. I've actually seen the owner and his family eat in that area many times over the years, so he prefers it as well. When we walked in, that space was near capacity as was the main dining room, so again, we wouldn't have minded at all. It was likely quieter than a full main dining room. We ordered a mix of favorites and specials. The Boy had the filet, and said it was perfect. He's a steak snob so that was high praise for him. I ordered the Marsala and it was comfort food perfection…loved it!!! DH ordered the seafood pasta with scallops, shrimp, pesto, and he enjoyed his as well. I also had the lemon drop martini. I will tell you, it was a little different than normal. They make their own custom limoncello and special sugared lemon peel garnish, but that person wasn't there last night so I admit they were different than usual. They were heavy on the strong and not as sweet as usual. Then again, a strong drink has never bothered me, plus it was very good so I ordered a second. (Shocking, I know…LOL) The desserts were beautiful and tasted even better than they looked. We shared the Baileys cheesecake and flourless chocolate cake. The Raffa's/Amedeo's restaurants are family favorites of ours, so admittedly we overlook things if they aren't exactly perfect, but do mention them when asked "how is everything?" Plus, we never harshly judge them on a crazy busy holiday dine out weekend since we know everyone who loves them wants to be there to celebrate the holiday, and we know they will be operating at full capacity with no room to spare. Again, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy dinner and I hope you asked to speak with the manager. No place can correct what went wrong for you if they aren't told about them when they happened.
donnatella : We have never had bad service or food at Amadeus. But, we do not eat out on Mother's Day, Father's Day, or Valentine's Day. I think when people eat out on those days there is a big chance things will not be perfect. I'm glad you enjoyed your night out! Happy Mother's Day! « Back to Chat
