Alzheimer's Memory Care Assisted Living in Kingwood.

I have had family with Alzheimer's but not here locally so I can't make any recommendations. I will pray for your family as you make decisions and help her with transitions.

I have SO been through that! Unfortunately, I don't know about facilities here. I will have to tell you that my mom had a positive experience in an Assisted living memory care facility. They got her on meds she should have been on all her life that I tried to get her on, and except for her episodes occasionally, she was the happiest I had seen her in years! They seem to do better in smaller surroundings where they can find their way around. I have a a friend I will ask about that as she just went though that. Hugs and prayers that you find a wonderful place for her!

Thank you both. She was at a facility by the Galleria when she broke her hip, but I didn't care for it. My brothers all live in Houston, but I wanted to see what was around here. I would rather her look out her window at a tree than at a parking garage.

AnnieOakley : I have a friend whose friend was in Landon Ridge memory care and they had a bad experience. Would not recommend.

My dad stayed at a place on Plantation Estates Road in Porter. They had two homes… one for Alzheimer's and one for elderly people. He was not in the Alzheimer's side.They were excellent, but very expensive. I lied to my sweet dad and told him Medicare was paying for it. This was six years ago (boy time flies) but I can't say enough good about the care he got. I hope they are still the same quality of care.

My mother was at what is now Novellus memory Care on Green Oak. It was just ok. I did visit almost everyday to keep an eye on things. Recently we had a dear friend in the memory care section of Fountainwood at Lake Houston. The family members really liked it. You really have to visit the ones that interest you and I'd say pop in for an unscheduled visit too. No place is perfect. Best of luck.

The is the same owner that was in charge when my dad was there. She has a top notch operation and I appreciated the help I got with my daddy.

Family members have required varying degrees of assistance, both in home and in a facility. Regardless of which facility, frequent, unscheduled visits are the only way to ensure your loved one is properly cared for. Many, but not all, employees are kind, compassionate, and skilled.

Thank you, everyone, for your advice/suggestions. This is good info to get me started on the research road.
