494 to be complete by 3rd quarter of 2023

That could not possibly be 7.6 miles.From the article:
Construction is nearing completion on a project to widen a 7.6-mile section of Loop 494 into a four-lane divided roadway. The project begins 0.5 miles north of the intersection of Loop 494 and Kingwood Drive, and ends north of Sorters McClellan Road. The $17.6 million project is 99% complete and is expected to finish in the third quarter of this year, according to a June 7 email from Bambi Hall, a public information officer with the Texas Department of Transportation.

Put the timer on and see if it dings after September! Where is CaffeineFree? Does he know this?

No way...just measured it using Earth Pro...2.7 miles from NP to Hamblen (and the new work doesn't even go down to Hamblen!). NP all the way to Rankin Road is only 7.5! Are they counting each lane as a separate road?

They are not trying to finish it. If they were, there would be some sign that they are making an effort. They must have hired that same crew from the I-10 project in Orange that has been going on for 20 years.

I read a while back that it is done except for the intersection of Kingwood Drive and 494 and it would open as soon as the intersection is completed. It was scheduled to be done by September 1st, so I guess that isn't happening. Let's hope for end of September.
