Theoldman : So they are inviting only men? They make no mention that women are welcome or can even sign up for the event. And why are Men that dont have students at KMS being invited? I dont understand that part either.

Most schools have plenty of mothers who show up on the first day of school. Maybe they are trying to get a show of support from the dads or male population which doesn't always happen. When my children were in school, I was there for everything. Dad was working.

Oh good grief!
I can't believe someone found negativity in this. My son is at KMS and upon reading the initial request for volunteers, I absolutely LOVED the idea. It encourages fathers and other important male figures to be a part of their kids life. Yes, we see predominantly female figures on the first day of school and that is exactly why this is needed. Kids need male role models and to see encouraging male figures on the first day can assist with that. I can't believe I have to sit here and defend this.

Think about my sons now 50ish. There grandma worked at Creekwood in the cafeteria. She was a retired nurse and wanted to keep busy.
They still complain about it to this day. But they do miss Grandma, she was a lot cooler than me.

Angie1002 : They have not said that is an option in the communication. But that's kind of what we are planning on. Do you know if Moms are allowed to sign up, I still haven't been able to get an answer from anyone on that.

ZMAN : why don't yall just try then you'll have your answer.
