ZMAN : my point earlier is that the moms are already there, so some balance is not necessarily a bad thing...

It's not like you just show up. The volunteers must RSVP to the link and do a background check. It's just a few hours of positive community service.

I would have been thrilled if my ex had shown up for anything concerning his children's education. He was a no-show.

ZMAN : no, not really, but you know I don't read politics into most stuff. I'm also a firm believer that outward discrimination of women is not as blatant or real as in the past. My daughter teaches 2nd grade and believes that most issues are more conflict oriented usually incited by snot nosed parents.

I will agree with you that the original post could have better phrased.

Are they running background checks on each person entering the school? I would think they would need to be processed in the system like all other school volunteers. I would find it weird and intimidating to be greeted by a hundred men at school.

I understand your concern and it's valid.

It's gonna be a positive event for Fathers or guardians who are gonna be in their company logo shirts, military fits, law enforcement fits, welders, plumbers, white collar guys, blue collar guys and others.

Some of my kiddos friends don't have a dad or see their dad regularly.

Yes the kids will cringe, but it's a core positive memory created.

And if it sucks, then it will be discontinued. Let's give it a shot, sign up and go!

I cannot understand the negative comments,concerns and criticism in this thread. IMO The email invitation and accompanying registration both clearly indicate the schools desire to increase male participation in the normal first day greeting of students . They would be joining the schools entire staff (security included) and several mommas.
