10 Year Old Runs Stop Sign on Electric Scooter.

Cbear : I was 2 cars back at the 4 way stop of NP and Mills Branch. A youngster without looking came off the path at about 30 mph didn't look and drove across the 4 way. Thank God no one hit him. He looked to be about 12 years old.

TEXASGIRLMAMMA: i do too! The video stops at point of impact, but its clear to see the child ran the stop sign and didnt take one second to look left or right, as she entered the intersection. That driver will see this Every time they close their eyes at night

the speed was ,sadly, the last factor in this crash. At any mph, this child took No notice of the traffic, the stop sign, or Any danger, and drove directly Into the path of this car. A 13 year old just lost his life the other day here in Glendale or Peoria. Sad. Parents are doling these things out like they are bikes. They are electric motorcycles.

that is so sad. so many of us have had some kind of an incident/almost with these ebikes throughout the summer, and now that they are letting them ride them to and from school, it is worse, and Not getting better.

Has anyone wondered why a 10 year old was out at night? The video didn't play from the link but the newspeople all said it happened at night.

It happened at about 7:12 pm, and it is still quite light out, at that time. Full sunset is about 8:10 pm. In the video there is no problem re her seeing the stop sign or traffic, in any way. She should have been home at that time, doing her homework, I agree, but maybe she was going home from a friend's home, etc? Here is a photo from the video that shows the light at the time of the accident and you can also see her as she has blown past the stop sign and he’s coming straight for the car

Worked in rehab too long and there are some clues to the injuries - tourniquet, "transferred to Med Center near downtown because of her injuries". Could lose a limb because of that - similar to the motorcycle guys/gals I have worked with. The other thing which I see from the constable picture is possibly a helmet on, but it could just be something to cover the head and not a certified helmet like Bell or other motorcycle helmets, which are good protection; but don't always cover it, but better than a Barbie helmet. Sad to say that there could be a head injury involved with this too.

I did not see head injuries being treated in the field, but that does Not mean that something was not discovered, after she got to the hospital. Just heard on KPRC that she is going to need surgery.

LittleTexas : Thank you! Yes it has to stop! I witnessed a near deadly crash myself not long ago. Their brains are not mature enough to share roadways with 4 ton chunks of deadly steel. Where are the adults in the room?

It said in the article you posted that a tourniquet was applied on the scene and that she was then transferred Wednesday morning. My guess from looking at it that that was going to be an issue with head injuries and that specialty is downtown.

I so agree with you, but add the factors of SO many people driving while distracted, on their cell, Literally watching videos and more, and then a child comes out of nowhere with not a Thought on slowing down, traffic pattern, or the car that was Clearly in her path, and it is a disaster. The children are NOT equipped to navigate with cars and flowing traffic...or a Ten year would have a TDL :0 There is a Reason that there is driver's education, and a test, After the age of 16.
