@Stealth83, yeah people are not homeless, as a general rule, Â because they lack a place to stay. Â It happens, but it is not the majority of the cases of homelessness.The general reasons, are addiction, and mental health issues.And a million homes will not fix either of these issues. Â Our country is in dire desperate need of mental health reform. Â So many families deal with this and have no where to go and no resources available to them. Â We did not need the ACA, we needed Mental Health reform first. Â It was such a missed opportunity.Trying at approach someone who is a paranoid schizophrenic to take them to their new home will be dangerous and an effort in futility. Â Â I think if more families had options of real inpatient care, that was affordable, that majority of those living on the street would be there. Â Getting their meds regulated. Â Â There are some people that will never be able to function in society. Â They aren't bad people, they just have some serious mental health issues. Â It is heartbreaking.Â
@Fallon:
These are the tough issues. Again, go deeper, what is causing the rise in mental health issues over previous generations? It isnt awareness, it isnt because we are just admitting it. Look at our diets and air quality, look at healthcare in pregnancy, drug addicts having kids is an epidemic itself and these kids have a ton of issues.
Think your house smells clean with bleach, pinesol, fabreeze, etc? Its destroying lungs in kids and causing lifelong issues.
Chemicals in land, air, water and food have cause genetic mutations that are horrendous.
@Stealth83:
As a percentage there are probably as many mentally ill people as there ever were. Just back in the day they were mass institutionalized. That doesn't happen much anymore so they are out in the streets. 4951
