Dude so I quit smoking yesterday and it is freaking hard.. But I am done this time for good. Man it sucks though. I think I will buy the patch tomorrow before I come to work. Does that work? 4951
I think those fake cigs will just make me want a cig... I'm trying to just go cold turkey.. My grandpa did when he was about my age.. Â My last pack of cigs I bought was at Shell on Northpark and this kid with crazy red hair and gauges in his ears rings them up and they were $6.66 and he just started laughing.. lol I was like yea... 20 years is enough time to pack it in 4951
Good for you Wooderson. My dad was a smoker, he's had lung cancer, prostrate cancer, both times he beat it. Then this past August, he was diagnosed with cancer in his lung & liver and it has spread to his bones in his back. He is going thru chemo and radiation. Cancer in his lung & liver is gone and cancer in his bones is not spreading. Doctor says she has no medical explanation on why he is responding so well. I do, the Good Lord above! 4951
I used the lozenges, I like them better than the patch because when you urge a smoke you can just pop one in your mouth instead of having it constantly in your system, Plus they stay in the mouth for like 30 minutes. You can use them less and less till you are free of them and I believe they are cheaper than the patch...I would suggest some sort of NRT ......Very few people go cold turkey and stay off...I know some can and do but its rare. NRT is the best way to go.....the Sunday coupons often have 10 and 15 buck off deals. If you decide those work for you the best go to sams or walmart and get a mega pack....its almost half price doing it that way.NRT=Nicotene replacement therapy...gum, patch, e-smoke, lozenge. pill...etc 4951
Also wooderson I did some research and its harder on people to go cold turkey these days because they use much more addictive substances than they did in the olden days. Back then it was just nicotine to quit, now they add much much more in there. You can really stress yourself out and even hurt your health going cold turkey. 4951
Thanks guys... Yea I can totally feel it building.. Plus I have a stressfull @$$ job so that helps lol  I have to do it.. though.. This time I am done for good!!!!!  Thank you!!! guys 4951
Wooderson , hang in there . It will be really hard the 1st 3 months but then it gets better . I know , I quit when I was 30 & that was almost 40 years ago . My 7 year old son had cancer & we were told he would not live very long , 1 year tops. It was almost xmas & I asked William Shawne what he would like for xmas. He looked up at me with his blue blue eyes & said ,"I just want you to stop smoking so you won't die like Iam going to do ". It was the hardest thing for me to do , but I stopped smoking that day ( thinking I would go back after William passed) but he turned 8 on Nov. 2nd & he passed away on Feb. 7th & I never went back to smoking , how could I break a promise to my son ? Now 40 years later Iam grateful that I made that promise .  So hold on & stay in for the finish line , you can do it . You are stronger than your addiction . You can & will win this battle for your health, you have to. Good Luck & God bless you .... 4951
I quit cold turkey on Aug 18, 2010, after 43 years of smoking. It is a CASE OF MIND OVER MATTER. I chewed alot of gum but I still have not had a smoke since then. I told myself I want to live long enough to receive all my social security money. Good luck on quitting, you will feel much better. 4951
