I think all the dog fighting news that gets aired has definitely made people think twice about this breed, but if they really research the pitbull history, it will bring light to this misconception of human/dog aggression.
Some pitbulls are aggressive towards humans, and the idiots that own these dogs encourage their aggression mostly because they are thugs themselves and want a dog that is considered badass, so to speak.
However, pitbulls were never bred to attack or bite humans, just the opposite. This breed is truly misunderstood on so many levels. Seriously, if a lab and a pitbull attacks a small child in separate cases, the media is going to go for the pitbull attack, it's crazy. Any large dog has the potential to seriously hurt or kill someone, but pitbulls will get all the negative publicity.
I have a shepherd mix, she recently started fighting with my chow mix, she is short fused and she latches on to where you cannot get her to let go. So now I have to keep them separate. They say pitbulls bite and lock their jaws, I say so do alot of other breeds. I think this is common in many dog fights whatever the breed.
I have only been bitten by a handful of dogs......shepherd & shepherd/chow mixes, chihuahuas and a dachshund mix. The shepherd bit me when I was a child trespassing in someones backyard, he showed me, lol. 4951
