We're just a couple of streets over from there. DH thought he heard someone messing with our gate right before then. We are discussing getting some kind of home protection because of the way things are going lately. Between this and the HEB break-in, just not feeling as safe anymore.

Alarm system, security cameras are going up as soon as they arrive and the 9MM will no longer stay in the night stand drawer... could happen in any neighborhood. Gotta be vigilant and take care of you own...

@Andreweggplant:

Casul and .500 S&W mag.

The last one.....hope it doesn't get that far because damn that 500 kick hurts!

m. 😊

@TXtransplant: for when you need to hit the burglar is hiding on the other side of the neighbor's house? 😂

@podunk:

Two- fer, takes out an obnoxious neighbor too.

@TXtransplant

Two to center mass and 1 to the head. Yeah, yeah, I know the head shot is a smaller target, but that takes care of the problem a lot quicker. Anyone doing any range practice, should always practice two to the chest and one to the head. If they are wearing body armor, that's the only way you're going to drop them, unless you get that 1 in a million shot that hits the suspect between the panels, and goes to the right internal organ.

@ExBlue:

Fan of head shots. Just trying to keep things grand jury clean .....

Take a head shot and be prepared for a legal battle. Better off trying center mass or hips first.

You know, some times you are trying to aim low, but you accidentally fire high. Factor in the "pucker factor" and just about anything can happen with your aim.

@Andreweggplant: Just 9mm? My three go to's are progressively .45 ACP, .454 Casul and .500 S&W mag. The last one.....hope it doesn't get that far because damn that 500 kick hurts! No judgement btw...just having some fun. I give much credit to anyone willing to admit they remain armed and stand outward against our nation of snowflakes. 9mm likely is fine. Just remember....after several chest shots with no drop go for the pelvic girdle. Drop the leg and you drop the problem. 😊
@TXtransplant: Whatever it takes!
@SwimSwim: For laymens....aim for the hip!

@TXtransplant:

I'm all about center mass, but I can sure see going for the hip after a couple of well placed rounds to the chest.  I am always armed and ready to protect myself and my loved ones and whatever strangers need help too.

Bless the young man who died, he made a poor choice in a very strange world. May his momma find solace.

Don't treat this young guy like all he was was a lowlife criminal. He's somebody's son. Remember that.

this is getting way too scary of a world!  This was too close to my family!

I pray for the victims in this.  To have to take a life is something this child should of never had to of done.  Now he has to live with that nightmare for the rest of his life.  raying his family gets him some therapy and stays with him with support.

As for the criminals family.. well its sad that it happened on Christmas but I have no sympathy.  Most know exactly what kind of young adults they have raised.  This "they have it we need it" mentality is what is making our world a living hell.

I'm just glad this family had cameras around the house and proved that innocent young man had no choice other than to kill the bad guy.  Next liberals will say that the criminals was just bored and "ding dong ditching"

Keep vigilant, watch out for your neighbors.  ANd everyone needs at least one camera going at home.   My best friend is on my side at all times... WaltherCCP goes everywhere I go .. and just because I am a woman dont think I can't be a dead shot!
