My guess is the original house was destroyed (fire or Ike) and this is the replacement. I would think the HOA would look at renderings prior to approval to make sure it is consistent with the neighborhood's architecture.
@TexINS: it was before Ike, I can't remember if it was a fire or the owners abandoned it & it went into disrepair- I moved to BB in 2004 & it was an empty lot and stayed that way until about 2-3 years ago. This has been addressed on the other site more than once. It sure is different looking from the rest of the neighborhood.
