trust me when you are getting paid to do a  job anything that comes under that title is considered a "chore" . After all it is part of the "job" you are  being paid to do ...correct ? My granddaughter has a college student sitting for her & she still has to pay $7. an hour . She has all evening classes .

I hope you can find someone dependable & caring to watch your little girl , please do not think anyone on here was "griping at you " , we were just trying to understand exactley what you were asking for & what the position entaled in case we knew someone that might be interested in watching your daughter for you .... best of luck to you & your daughter. 4951

Finding someone who watches a few other kids would be great! They're generally cheaper than a one-on-one "nanny" type sitter, and she'd have some other kids to hang out with with more structure. There is surely someone out there who does in-home care who has room for another kid and could use another $100/week to add to their salary.

I'm sure you'll find someone. Just make sure it's quality care with a quality provider. I've been down the private sitter path years ago when I worked FT and it was no picnic at all. Emoticon 4951

Umm it seems like you were being pretty harsh, WJo. She was just asking for help, relax. It's nice to see parents actually looking for help with their children after all the crap I've seen in the news lately. Chill out. It's not that hard to be nice. I

hope you find someone soon!! Good luck :-) 4951

Maybe you'll be able to find a responsible High School kid to help.  Last time I looked into hiring a college student to watch my kids, it was a minimum of $10 an hour, so anywhere from $400 - $500 a week depending on hours.  College isn't cheap, and they  have bills to pay.

I think the average going rate for a decent sitter is $10-$15.

Times sure have changed.  I am not THAT old, but I used to charge $2 back when I was 12-13 years old...not sure how comfortable you would be with a 13 year old watching your child. 4951

@Littlegoo: Unless it was an infant with special needs or something I would never charge that...Who the heck is gonna work if their whole check has to go on daycare. I understand full live in or full time personal nannys with house care included getting that but stay at home daycare of one child 400 bucks a week....No way I would ever ask anyone to pay me that. Now I do understand  that rate for Saturday night out a few hours, thats different, its not constant work and to make it worth someones time.I been thinking about taking on 2-3 older kids to watch and I was thinking 25 a day under the table 30 if its claimed on taxes. I just cant imagine charging someone 80 plus a day for one kid....LOL

@Ambyr: This is why I dont work even though we need some extra money badly...if we make much more income it puts us in the next tax bracket because we are almost there so that means more taxes..add that plus gas, lunch, and daycare, and any other work expenses, IT WOULD COST ME TO WORK....LOL Plus I would miss out on valuable time raising my own kid....:-(

@Ambyr: I'm just wondering Who the heck you people work for to be able to afford 1000 bucks a month in daycare...LOL My now 19 year old at age 18 was working for a couple that paid her 275-325 a week depending on the hours, to come in their home and care for their baby and that was WHILE THEY WORKED FROM THE HOME leaving for meetings only. Only clean up she had was after the baby....Thats some good cash for someone my teens age, but she went to NC for college, I almost asked her boss if I could have her job....LOL
