My husband and I moved into a brand new home in a brand new subdivision.  We had lived there one year and it was August 1983. I put my dog out in the back.  A man with a knife pushed in the door  and tried to  rape me. .  He had a knife and I can still hear the buttons on my blouse hitting the kitchen floor.  If I had not of passed out he would of killed me.  He already killed one lady and threw her in the 7-11 (we had those back then) dumpster.  I was very lucky.  He kicked my poodle on the side and he died one week later of a heart attack. The very nice detective called me two years later and let me know he was killed in jail.  I guess this entire story is...... it does not matter where it is.  There are crazy, mean and bad people everywhere.  I have an alarm now and pay 30.00 a month for peace of mind.  We can talk a lot about what areait happens everywhere!!!!  We just all need to be very careful......with our children also.  I am not a scardy cat but I watched my two girls closely and very seldom did they walk alone...the Buddy system is the best.   4951

reason the word got out about the apartments is she was hanging there for several days hiding in the greenbelt area and hitting the pools and Garbage bins at night...I saw her shadow one night from my window as my apartment was pool side, then boom she was gone.

@Burnsway: I had remembered I was in the building that had caught on fire around the time and we were relocated though outs was the only one that did not burn, then we were by the pool and it was on out patio we did not know what to do. Then we could not go back into out apartment  when it was deemed safe because it had gotten in there when they were going in and out of it to make sure there was no fire damage, we had to wait until they got the cougar out, now looking back it is really funny. I also remembered I was in elementary school and they would not let us out for recess because of the cougar.

Instead of seeing more parents at Lowes buying more locks, i wish i would see more parents on the trials and out in the community.
