@JSchiner Exactly......we do have lots of crime here.  Maybe if they put those back....It would quiet down again????  We need patrols.  I did see a Bike Patrol in Elmgrove today. 4951

this sucks!... i just get home(after several days away), ready for a nice run on my usual route and this is what i'm greeted with! Some JERK takes our freedom away.. freedom of safety.. freedom of my normal routine...Its beautiful here, its my home.. all I ask is for alittle fresh air.. geesh... well.. anyway.. I had to vent... I will (and alway have) take the appropriate precautions) when I go, and I will go again... watch surroundings if someone looks 'funny' Il go a different way, (sorry if I offend anyone, oh well) I'l try not to go alone, never go at night or in the dark, take what i have to, etc. otherwise, be smart, but come on people, 2:30 in the afternoon should be about the safetest time and the jerk was lurking... we have to be alert 24/7- i wish we could catch all the JERKS so we could have our freedom of safety back...thanks.. i feel better now.. i'm going for a run.. 4951

Don't condem the whole neighborhood. The apartments on the Elm Grove side is where the problem lies.
@Fixer6:
What makes you think its the apartments where the problem lies? 4951

the apartments in that local have an extensive history with undesirables. I'm not saying everyone who lives there is a criminal. Not by any means. But, I will say that all who live there are subjected to them.
I've know several hard working families who lived here that thought "How bad can it be, there's an elementary school right across the street?" only to have all their bicycles stolen painted and sold, car stripped, a son that was beaten and robbed for his shoes two doors down from the apartment he lived in, and I personally caught two 15 year old girls trying to break into my truck while I was attending a swim meet at Elm Grove pool.
These things have been a problem for years.

@Fixer6: I have lived in this neighborhood for a long time. There are nothing wrong with the apartments and I think you are just biased. I live in the apartments in Elm Grove and there is never problems in there, the reason there are so many cop cars there all the time is because there are 12 cops living in these apartments. With that many cops living in one complex it keeps the scum out. I think you are thinking of the wrong complex nothing like that has ever happened here since I have been living here. Are you thinking of elm creek, they have some problems with druggies, that is why I steered clear of them.

I don't think we can pin point any certain area. With the economy we can expect more crime.  I live in a nice Kingwood home and had someone walk in my garage.   We had the shooting over there at Lowes.  The theif over there that overturned his SUV and escaped.  If you turn on your TV news this stuff is happening almost everywhere.  I hesitate to blame an apartment complex on it all.  I do realize apartments do bring about some additional  crime...but there is more to it then that.  I don't agree with that.We are living in dangerous times now.  Look at the Theater shooting....We can expect things like this unfortunately.Before we moved into our home we were at the apartment complex across the street from the High School.  They do have problems there.  I would have to say though that those problems are no different then some we have had while living in other areas away from these apartments. 4951

Why do so many people blame people in apartments its like oh lets blame the people who cant afford a house yet. Do yall know how much more the apartment in kingwood cost compared to other places they  are a good $500 more a month than other apartments of the same size which are out of kingwood and those are just the cheaper ones in kingwood.  Plus Some people just live alone and have no reason to buy a house, why have a three bedroom house for one or two people. The good apartments do background checks.  4951

@Fixer6: I grew up in the area then moved back, because I liked it. they do not all get cheap rent only one who patrols does and only one can. My mom also used to work in the leasing office, I knew everything that went on there while she worked there. I live next door to two of the cops nothing ever goes on there and as far as the problems you encountered like the girl at the swim meet how do you even know where she lived. When my mother had worked there all the problems were kids who did NOT live here trespassing. A lot of the crimes in kingwood are just board teenage latch key kids. I used to live in Oakhurts in a house, my house got robbed more times than I could count in the four months I lived there. I have never had one problem in an apartment.
Also how would you like it if someone was implying that your friends and neighbors are crooks.  4951

Also I don't know if it just seems this way, but it appears to be much worse in the summer when kids are out of school and quiets down after returning to school.  Let us not forget though these crimes are not kids that have happened lately. 4951

@Ann2800: Could be the older ones like the teenagers, or people from out of the area. That is why the K stickers and pool tags originated in the first place, from people from other cites coming in and causing trouble.

Friendly reminder to those who do not like guns.

A knife is just as deadly at close range.

But that too, will also need plenty of training to use.
