We had dinner at LaMadeleine this evening and noticed that the Thursday chess players were there. They seemed like a nice group enjoying the game with friends. Has anyone on the Forum played there? If not, where do you chess players out there go? Is there an organized group here in Kingwood?

It is the local chess club. Its made up of adults and children. They meet every Thurs night at different restaurants in the area. I think they are at LaMadeline's about once a month.

There is a Lake Houston Chess Club, they have a Facebook page under the same name.

They are there every Thursday night. Anyone can join in, it's free. People just show up with their board and they try to match you to someone with the same skill level. They have a Facebook page with pictures of the events. The only thing, yes putting on my parenting hat, is that I wouldn't want a stranger playing games with a young child for safety. However most of the images it looks like they try to put kids together.

I agree with you, and would make sure my child was playing with another child. might contact them to see whether many kids do show up, if it is on a school night?
