Target New Caney - dog policy
Dog in the grocery store this morning- very obviously not a support animal. Owner on phone the whole time- Dog had its nose in all the produce- disgusting and owner had no control . These stores need policies and to enforce them

myopinions4me : I agree and I love dogs, but there is a time and a place for them, especially if the owner is oblivious!

I don't mind dogs anywhere. I have always spent a great deal of time in Europe where dogs on leashes are just a common occurrence in public settings. They are also extremely well behaved in my experience.
It seems like it would have to be a pretty large dog it seems to be able to reach the produce. I don't suppose it's much different than a toddler handling it though - both probably have the same level of hygiene, lol.
But I also respect rules and the comfort of other people. My dog is adorable (and I'm not one bit biased,) but I have only taken him occasionally to dog friendly places.
My problem is that I probably enjoy animals more than people!

The problem with support animals, which are stupid in concept anyway, is once you start allowing them all the selfish douches claim their mutt is one so they can take them everywhere. Being an ****** is not a status symbol people.

The only support animals I support are those that aid the blind because they are very specialized animals with incredible training. Your stinky Pomeranian shouldn't be in the grocery store.

myopinions4me: I see that from time to time in different stores, best thing to do is to go ask for the manager and explain where the person is and describe them so they can ask them to leave. there are other animals that are ESAN ,such as seizure animals, that one may not know, about just from looking at the dog. I would still let the manager know as the best way to handle this

teatime : I have heard from clients who travel in Europe especially that people take dogs everywhere. And that they are well behaved in public. AND there is not this horrendous dumping of animals and stray dog issues.
Sounds like they're doing something right!!

MissAmericanPie: The 5 years I lived in a large city in South America, people took their dogs everywhere, but their paws never left the floor, and they sat quietly under tables and grocery stores. They stayed close to their owners shopping bag or the owner, themselves; there was a strict but unwritten code and people adherered to it, to the letter. it never bothered me at all. The animals were very well behaved. I think it’s different here because so many people don’t even follow the rules for humans, nor would they for dogs!!

So....there are 3 reasons dogs should not be allowed in public places.
1. People have allergies.
2. There are cultures that are not as accepting of dogs in public and consider it disrespectful .
3. There are a lot of people that have a very real fear of dogs.
There are more reasons, but these are the top 3.

A couple had a well behaved little dog at costU. It was leashed but too small to see. Dont think it was an emotional support dog. Almost ran into it with the cart. It's just not necessary.

e :
Dogs are Not allowed in Costco.
Someone snuck in with one & they were shown the door. Not allowed, too busy can't look out for pups when loading forklifts in store.
