PSA: be careful driving on Chestnut Ridge and Stonehollow Dr. Ever since assisted living places changed to independent, there are often senior citizens on motorized and non-motorized wheelchairs on the road. I always drive slowly there. Today someone turned left right in front of me . Thankfully, I was going show enough to stop.

So far the common culprit of reckless scooter operation is either very young or very old. Everyone else is in a car. lol

Hey, thanks for this notification, so people can be more aware of the area !

lol, that's how Miami used to be! Now it's mostly Cuban, but it used to be all retirees over 70! They also were guilty of taking sugar and artificial sugar packets from restaurants they frequented! 😂🤣
NeenaC0629, CatalinaD and buffaloglenn + 4 more reacted I haven't seen any scooters, just wheelchairs. It is sad that many have no other option but to stay when they really still needed assisted living.
Maybe they should paint a bicycle-type lane for wheelchairs in the street along curb. That might keep them safe and out of the middle of the street.
Kittle and Donnawisdom reacted Good tip. We are all going to be really old one day if we are lucky.
Great PSA. Thank you. We frequently see elderly walking or in wheelchairs in that area and along Kingwood Dr. near there. Hmmmm I am elderly driving a car.
Wow, that's interesting. I did a tour of the home off of Chestnut Ridge as an option for my parents recently. They definitely looked like they had their hands full there with a lot of people. I didn't realize they would allow them to go out onto the streets, though. Will definitely keep an eye out while driving through that area, thanks for the heads up.
there is a concrete path through the trees and over to the Merit bank then through parking lot to aldi
If it is independent, the residents can do whatever they want. I want to say some iof them are just 55+ plus with no services at all. The places didn't want to have to pay for full building generators to meet the new requirements for assisted living.
I am not sure where you are taking about. The only bank close is Chase and it's on the same side as the residences. There is not a way to get to Aldi's without crossing Chestnut Ridge where I'm talking about.
My mom was in independent living when Brookdale (absolutely wonderful!) and then Reunion Court was a tiered facility between the two white buildings they had. They always had elevator issues and yes, no generator. A lot of them would have preferred to stay there when it transferred to a 55+ but it wasn't in the cards. A lot are at the Terraces now so still friendly faces. We always see people on the scooters no matter where she lives.
